Cat d330 engine parts

I have a 4.5L v6 engine that I need to remove the heads off of. I am trying to buy used engine parts, but when I put together a list of what I need to buy, it seems like a lot of it is the same part.

Does anyone know if it is worth it to buy all the parts or not?

I have a parts manual (which is great), so I know the parts and their sizes, but I was wondering if anyone could just let me know if it would be worth it to buy all the parts or just enough to get started?

Thanks for any help!!

Here is the list of parts I have.

Camshaft

Do you need to get all the parts?

Do I need any of these parts?

Do I need to get any of these parts?

The head gasket is a major expense and most of the others are just a bolt, ring and bolt. The camshaft is cheap to buy but if you already have a head gasket and cam then you might as well just use the head gasket you have and you already have the cam and it's cheap.

But you have a manual, and that should tell you exactly what you need.

That's what I thought when I was looking for parts.

But then I found out there are some different parts and some of them are the same size. So I was wondering if it would be better to get a bunch of parts that are the same size or if I just need a few different sizes.

It seems like a lot of people have the parts, and if I can get them for cheaper than buying the parts that I need it would be better.

Well, you need head gaskets, camshafts, cams and valves.

Head bolts and rings are cheap. If you want to be cheap on stuff like that, you might as well get it all at once since you don't need to keep buying them and they are just there to keep things from falling out of your engine while you are fixing it.

For the valve springs, you might as well get more than what you need because they will be on the cheap side and you will probably have a lot of them and can get them on the cheap.

But if you are paying for shipping and all that other crap, it might as well be worth it to buy a bunch of parts that are the same size and buy them separately. I bought my engine heads and gaskets on ebay and got all of my bolts, rings and washers, the gaskets and the valves at the same time. I got all of it together in one box.

So, I would say get a bunch of the same things.

For example, you are not going to need a head bolt and a head stud for one head.
